Once more, the Nantes Tattoo Convention lives up to expectations as the must-attend tattoo event in the west of France. With an ever-growing number of tattoo enthusiasts, the event welcomed over 13,000 visitors this year. 380 artists from every corner of the country and the world, exhibitors and 80 volunteers brought the convention to life, offering the best immersive tattooing experience. Every style was represented, from Japanese to Polynesian, manga to traditional, graphic to realistic. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone and that's what makes this convention so popular in France. A creative, family-friendly and festive atmosphere ! The scheduled events that punctuated the weekend included thrills and chills with the Testa fakir shows, as well as humour and sensuality with the Burlesque Freaky Follies. Many of the stoolholders presented their creations to the visitors’ delight, allowing them to bring home an authentic souvenir. Ranging from jewelry to interior decoration including skulls, prints or taxidermy. And to top it off, there's a wide choice of food trucks and drinks for relaxing in between tattoos and events. For the second year running, each day was fueled by a conference driven by a specific topic. On Friday, Tattoo artists Le Guyt and Sola tackled the subject of emotional involvement in the world of tattooing. On Saturday, it was Amy Mymouse and Lucho Morante’s turn to talk about their artistic approach. And lastly on Sunday, L'Androgynette and Dark Baba discussed their code of ethics and the responsibility of tattoo artists. It was another fascinating discussion ! Regarding the customary auction, 10 690 € were raised for the “Rêves de Marmouz” association, which fights pediatric cancer. It was a great opportunity to acquire an original work of art and make a contribution to a worthy cause. The convention also featured a number of competitions to showcase and reward the best tattoos created over the weekend. Here are the results of the first prizes awarded: - Black & Grey small piece : ornella_ttt - Colour small piece : aurelrondl - Best of friday : jolagribouille_tattoo - Ornemental : nadoz_tattoo - Blackwork big piece : leguyt_tattoo - Best of saturday : thibaud_rcka - Realistic : gaetano_tattoo - Big piece colour : bintou.ink - Best of sunday : siemor_ntc - Best of show : blackbubble_art The Nantes Tattoo Convention is always a fun time and it’s with great pleasure that we return every year to spend time with the artists we love; discovering and meeting new ones, especially enjoying this great event that puts tattooing into the spotlight, promoting it as an art form in its own right !
