On the 7th, 8th and 9th of october took place the Tattoo Convention of Nantes who still is a major event of the french tattoo scene. For the 11th edition at the "parc des expositions de la Beaujoire" on the outskirts of Nantes. Stephanie, Yann and Sam, organisors of the festivities, succeeded in gathering around 230 tattoo artists. Some foreigners did the trip to come over such as Alix Dupuis and Olivier Julliand from Canada, Nigel Palmer and Ashley Luka both english, Koan coming from Spain, as well as Will Wonka straight from the famous studio "Human Fly Tattoo", Joey Ortega american and accustomed to french conventions, Sean Wright who's also american, Matthew Gordon from Australia and others. A big majority of french artists were also at the party. We were able to see some tattooists at work such as : David Monster, Daru Manu, Laurian Roo aka Golem, Iris Lys, Jon Bretzel, Alice Patulacci, Remi, Alex Gé, Noka etc etc...
The week end got its fill of gigs, shows and tattoo contests. Numerous merchandising stands, clothing and others, ornemented the alleys of the convention. Located in a spacious and agreable room near the water. A lot of food trucks outside could satisfy ones hunger.
Nantes is also one of the most welcoming French cities, with a very enjoyable pedestrian center, the bars and restaurants are really inviting. A pleasant atmosphere after a long day at the convention. We can't wait for the next edition ! Report DHK translation James C
