For this fourth edition of Liege's Tattoo Convention, Jean-Pierre Mottin and his team have once again made a wonderful event. The public were there in numbers. The artists were very well greeted with superb catering and a team to take care of all their needs. The halls of "Foires de Coronmeuse" is a pleasant area. More than 200 tattoo artists were present; there were also shows, concerts, foodtrucks; everything to make it a great weekend.
Belgium has seen the birth of tattoo shops such as "La Boucherie Moderne" or "Grizzly Inc" (Jean-Pierre Mottin's shop) which whithout a doubt have influenced tattoo amateurs with their graphic style. Therefore we noticed a big number of artists practicing "dot work" or "Trash Polka" or even ornamental tattoos. Among them, Emilie B, Laurent Yucca, Jubsss, Guillaume Smash, Dan Skin, Jef Palumbo, Léa Nahon and many others. We also met the famous "Tin-Tin" organiser of the "Mondial du Tatouage" in Paris, Lucho Morante, Peruvian artist, settled in Spain and who just opened a second shop in Toulouse, specialised in letterings and latino tattoos. Noka and his incredible japanese tattoos, Jérôme Crazy Caps and his superb new school, Amy Mymouse and her little new school chicks, Arno B and his dark tattoos, Dimitri HK, William l'aiguille, Vincent Bloodline, Fabian Lucky Seven etc; etc...
There were also some skate and bmx demos, bands such as "Eagles Road", "My Only Scenery", "John Coffey" performed at the event as well as DJ Sonar and "la Barbe Mobile" who took care of the music throughout the weekend. A barber shop was set-up in the grounds along with a lot of merchandising and goodies and of course the tattoo contests.
Until next year for a new edition, already in preparation. (2017, september, 2 and 3) Report, photos & videos DHK translation James C
