From the 28th of March until the 16th of April Dimitri Hk's exposition took place at « La Clef » in Saint Germain en Laye. He presented at least thirty of his artworks and more than a hundred sketches. There were oil and acrylic paintings, illustrations, art installations including one made in collaboration with Ludo de G-Gen.
For the opening, the party was a success and very rock n’ roll thanks to the bands who put on a really good show. The evening started out with the punk metal sounds of « Monkey’s Bollocks » then followed by « Jaya the Cat » who came all the way from Holland to make everybody dance to their reggae-punk music. The whole audience was won over by the bands.
Other artists came to see Dimitri, glass in hand, for his opening : Easy Sacha (Mystery Tattoo Club), Joce (The Next Pen), Steph. D and Claire (Octopus tatouage), Dago (Nuevo Mundo) Benjo San and Virginie B. (La Brulerie), Micky (Gecko Tattoo) and many others…
Dimitri Hk, Comic book enthusiast since he was a little boy, tattoos since 1990 and started seriously painting around 2008/2009, after numerous attempts which from his point of view had only little success. Now, more satisfied with his painting, he has had many opportunities of exhibiting his work, including at the CAC Georges Brassens in Mantes la Jolie, at « 59 » rue de Rivoli in Paris and at the Evian tattoo convention.
More comfortable with large formats, he makes his first series on 3 to 7 feet high canvas. For his new art exhibit he painted 16 little oil paintings of 30x30cm based on the freaks theme and portraits of tattooed icons (Keith Richards, Lemmy, Lux and Ivy etc…). We can observe in his work countless references to the tattoo world. Proud to be a tattooist, his artwork is the extension of his passion. He likes to shuffle around building art installations like customizing window shop mannequins for example. The first two were presented at his exhibition at « 59 Rivoli » and at the « Mondial du Tatouage 2013 » in the great hall of « La Villette ». One mannequin is based on japanese inspired tattoos and the other is inspired by Latino tattoos. The one made for the exposition in St Germain en Laye was made in collaboration with Ludo de G-Gen, another tattoo artist, in a more « Steampunk » atmosphere. We sure are impatient for hist next art exhibit. Thanks to La clef de st germain en Laye, Patt Tatra and James C.
