Here we are, Thursday night with our invitation card in hand, we are arriving at Hall Saint-Pierre, in the foothills of the Sacré-Coeur, popular area for an exhibit just as popular.
For their third event, HEY! Magazine did it again; they’ve gathered an amazing bunch of artists from all over the world, specializing in different spheres such as comic strip, tattoo, sculpture and contemporary painting.
The venue and the sidewalk just outside are crowded. Through the exhibition, we can stumble across many exhibitors; Don Ed Hardy, undeniable American old-school tattoo icon; Filip Leu, renowned for his own approach to Japanese tattoo, he now presents more contemporary paintings.
Just like in the other two editions, the event takes place at Halle Saint-Pierre, former indoor market, which has two large rooms on two storeys where all the art work is displayed. Hall Saint-Pierre also has a bar and a beautiful bookstore. This year, all the artists are from different countries and different fields; what unites them is the underground culture. We can admire illustrations by Richard Corben, the brilliant illustrator for Métal Hurlant Magazine and Heavy Metal Magazine, Corben who is also the creator of the heroic-fantasy saga ″DEN″.
We can discover or revisit the work of Mark Ryden, American surrealist painter of the pop culture; Camille Rose Garcia’s work, aswell as some pieces of Don Ed Hardy’s private collection. We are also delighted to see Hirotoshi Ito, Xooang Choi and Lian Yu-Pei’s sculptures. A total of 62 international artists: your mind will be blown away. We would like to thank Anne and Julien, creators of HEY! Magazine again for this amazing exhibit which we recommend you to visit, from September 18th 2015 to March 13th 2016 at Halle Saint-Pierre, 2 Ronsard Street, 75018, Paris.
