Fans of antiques and archival photos will enjoy this publication entitled "Photographs - Cliff Raven Travel Book 1969-1970", by Chicago tattooer Nick Colella. The owner of the Great Lakes Tattoo studio reproduces an album of photographs taken by this other American tattooer, a pioneer in the Japanese style in the USA, during several of his trips in 1969 and 1970 when he visited his colleagues in Vancouver, Oakland, Seattle, San Francisco... From these pages rich in history emerge the legendary figures of Sailor Jerry, Don Nolan, Lyle Tuttle, Zeke Owens, Bert Grimm, Doc Webb but also Phil Sparrow as well as Ed Hardy, who was particularly young at the time (he was working at Doc Webb's in San Diego). Raven himself had annotated this album in which business cards and yellowed photos of the studios are pasted, with shop fronts, signs and walls of deliciously vintage flashes. One can imagine the pleasure of discovery Raven took in each new stop. Several decades later, it is now ours. « Photographs - Cliff Raven Travel Book 1969-1970 » - 40$ - Infos : https://www.greatlakestattoo.com/
