The Museum of Swedish-American History in the United States of America in Philadelphia is getting in touch with tattooing and is proposing to review its history with its exhibition "Tattoo: Identity Through Ink". In this journey from the origins of humanity to the present day, the institution is particularly interested in Scandinavian culture. It traces the origins of Nordic tattooing and highlights the influence of Finnish artist Amund Dietzl - who became one of the greatest tattoo artists of his time after immigrating to the United States - on the history of American tattooing. The exhibition traces its last 150 years of tattooing, from traveling circuses to tattooed celebrities, and features such Philadelphia tattoo artists as "Philadelphia Eddie" and the lesser-known Harry "Buckie" Buchanan, one of the city's best tattoo artists of the late 19th/early 20th century, whose flashes from the 1930s are on display. Until 2 May 2022. www.americanswedish.org.
