Fans of Japanese pop culture can rejoice, the new issue of the French magazine Otomo has just been released. Inside is a 12-page portfolio of photographs of tattooing in Japan taken in the 1950s in Tokyo. The images are taken from the recently released book 'The Tattoo Writer' (thetattoowriter.com). This is a collection of previously unpublished photographs taken by Akimitsu Takagi, one of the greatest writers of Japanese crime fiction, who was also passionate about tattooing and witnessed the life of this underground milieu in his time.
