Dan Sin – stories on rice paper

Texte : TD / Visuels : Dan Sin

Tattooing since 99, Dan Sin is known worlwide for his modern japanese inspired style with that twist of humor, sexual overtone and illustrative inspiration. Fantastic and surrealistic, all designs are impressive, with a taste for horror in a detailed style. He recently worked on different mediums as ink on rice paper and illustrate his own version of japanese Yokai with his twisted mind and fantasy and great declinations of colours.

Born in 1979 in Luxembourg, he is the owner of Luxembourg Electric Avenue, tattooing and traveling for 18 years, he is now well known also for his painting and drawing of tribal tattoos on pornographic pictures from the early 80's and 90's. His work is a mix of everything he is talented in as japanese, modern, single needle, painting etc. « I was always interested in the mythology of japanese history and there is a lot of meaning behind japanese tattooing, which made me never get bored of this style », inspired mainly by books but also by his friends and his first mentor, Mick from Zurich who did his sleeve tattoo at a time where there wasn't any smartphone or social network. At some point he claims to be inspired by so many artists now, he couldnt name them all.

With those ink on rice paper, Dan Sin, is trying to do something different, using his mind full of a sick imagination. Humble too, with his passion for tattooing, he is not inventing something else but taking a path that other explored before but this time with his own touch. When we ask him : what's the best tattoo experience he had ? This man simply answers : having friends all over the world, traveling the world and put my mark by tattooing.
